Massey 55 Glenfield 10
Northcote 13 East Coast Bays 10 (ET)
Western 60 Mahurangi 24
Silverdale 17 Marist 9

There was heartbreak for East Coast Bays and a powerful reminder of Massey's quality as the semifinalists were decided in North Harbour premier play.

Bays were pipped 13-10 by Northcote in extra time at Windsor Park in a tight game which featured just one try apiece. The scores were tied 10-10 at the end of 80 minutes, so it went to golden point. Rep wing Jonah Tuitoga scored Bays' try, while Callum Law recorded Northcote's first 10 points in a real to-to-toe forward struggle. It was Ben Searle who sealed the win in the 88th minute with a calmly struck penalty goal from no less than 55m.

Northcote's reward is an away semifinal to Takapuna at Onewa Domain next Saturday, while Bays meet Glenfield in a playoff for the minor placings.

Massey shrugged off the loss of several players to Blues duty to dispatch Glenfield 55-10 with nine tries to one in a compelling display. Doubles to loose forward Dylan Lam and halfback Chris Smylie highlighted Massey's display as they built on a 28-3 halftime lead.

Massey will now travel to North Shore for Saturday's semifinal.

The Western Pioneers may be signing off as a partnership, but they gave their supporters something to cheer about with a 60-24 win over Mahurangi. Rep players David Bason and Kyle Nu'uali'itia scored braces, while Mahurangi also ran in four good tries.

Silverdale had a rugged battle to beat a rejuvenated Marist 17-9, scoring three tries to none.

Waitemata have kept their Gallaher Shield semifinal hopes alive with a rousing 43-33, bonus point home victory over Pakuranga.

It was the perfect way to toast 100 premier games for popular wing Karl Siemsen, who scored 13 points, including the opening try, which came on the short side when nothing appeared to be on. Siemsen is the second leading points scorer in 2016 Auckland premier play with 156.

Waitemata looked as though they would run away with it, leading 26-13 at the break. Fullback Sam Aolele scored two tries in quick succession, the second, his 13th of the season, on a sweet angle from a short pass by his centre John Vui.

Pakuranga gradually worked their way back into the contest via the boot of first five Piero Dominguez and a 50m intercept try by lock Ben Nee Nee. When burly wing Safata Savea scored off a Lui Morel offload, the east Aucklanders, fighting for the playoff lives, had drawn level at 33-all. But they did not count on a withering Waitemata finish.

Replacement No 8 Fa'asao Mulivai showed huge strength off the back of a scrum to score and then prop Vaai Ioane drove over in the corner off a lineout move to seal it with the seventh team try.

Pakuranga is now out of semifinals contention, but Waitemata will make it if they beat Grammar TEC at Orakei Domain.

The defending Gallaher Shield champions struck a major hurdle in the form of Papatoetoe, who won a tight contest 18-14.

College Rifles put themselves in the box seat to hoist the Alan McEvoy Memorial Shield next weekend. Their 34-14 victory over Marist comprised doubles to flanker Jeremy Innes and centre Loketi Manu. The industrious David Afamasaga scored a brace for Marist.

Ponsonby have an outside chance to supersede Rifles after a fine second half carried them to a 32-18 win over second-placed Suburbs. Ponies skipper and hooker Willie Uili led from the front with a try.

In the Portola Trophy, University marched on, crushing Otahuhu 62-0. The other fixtures were all tight, Te Papapa-Onehunga drawing 11-all with Waitakere City, and Eden edging East Tamaki 21-19, though Wilson Silipa's double for the latter took him to the top of the tryscoring charts with 15. The McNamara Cup semifinalists have been found after the final round-robin matches of the 2016 season.

Karaka will host Ardmore Marist and Bombay will host Counties Power Cup holders Pukekohe. In the second tier Sid Marshall Shield, Onewhero host Waiuku and Patumahoe will host Manurewa.

Ardmore Marist needed to beat Patumahoe by more than eight points to ensure they made the McNamara Cup semifinals, and they duly accomplished that with a 33-24 win. Both sides scored four tries, but hooker Suliasi Taufalele scored a good winger's try with five minutes to play to seal the result.

In the Counties Power game of the week, Te Kauwhata finished their season off on a high with a 43-14 victory over Weymouth. The club was celebrating a few milestones, including prop Jared Udy's 100th game. Te Kauwhata got off to a good start and led 21-7 at halftime. They continued their dominance in the second half, James Peters scoring a double.

Karaka had a good battle with Manurewa at Mountfort Park, with the visitors finishing the regular season with a 43-29 victory. Seluini Molia scored a brace for Karaka, while first five Orbyn Leger was back from New Zealand Under 20 duties to kick four conversions.

Pukekohe are the Counties Power Cup winners for 2016 after defeating Papakura 64-0. It was a productive outing for Pukekohe wing Trent White, who bagged five tries and climbed straight to the top of the tryscoring leader board.

Pukekohe's semifinal opponents next week, Bombay, proved too good for Waiuku on the Hill, the home side coming away with a 50-15 victory. Bombay had a solid first half, leading 26-3 at the break. Kalolo Tuiloma scored a hat trick, while Sam Vaka, Aaron Smith, Liam Daniela and Sam Aiono all scored singles. Prop Aiono added a conversion for good measure.
