V8 chiefs in talks with owner of international circuit have held talks with the owner of a circuit in southern China with the intention of returning to the country.
Consultant Graeme Staerk represented V8s during a recent Gold Coast City Council trade mission and met the owner of Zhuhai International
Circuit to discuss the possibility of holding a V8 race at the track.
V8 Supercars raced in Shanghai in 2005 and a spokesman confirmed the latest talks.
The discussions were largely informal and there's no proposed date for any event but the circuit's owner is interested in pursuing the possibility.
"All destinations are potential targets but we're definitely looking at the Asian market in particular - obviously because of the similar time zones and relative ease of access to that region from Australia," the spokesman said.
