The Trass Family Motorsport team, with drivers Sam Fillmore and Danny Stutterd, claimed their first race win of the season at the final round of the North Island Endurance series at Manfeild over the weekend.
It doubles as their first win in the three-hour series after a couple of seasons
of trying. Making the win particularly sweet was Fillmore and Stutterd's underdog status as 'amateur' drivers, compared to the 'pro' drivers scattered among the other leading entries. Sweet also given that the TFM squad came so close to claiming a maiden win at Hampton Downs just weeks ago in their Ferrari.
The Smeg Racing Holden Commodore of Simon Evans and Gene Rollinson finished second with International Motorsport's Audi R8 LMS Ultra driven by former A1GP star Jonny Reid and Neil Foster in third.
Fillmore and Stutterd's win was enough for them to tie on points with Reid and Foster - the championship will be shared.
Tulloch Motorsport's John McIntyre and Simon Gilbertson looked likely to take the championship but an incident with the Smeg Holden saw the Camaro damaged enough to force repair work in the pits. They lost five laps working on the damage and any shot at winning the title.
