Motorsport: Evans taking it to the streets

Kiwi driver Mitch Evans is hoping to build on his maiden points haul at this weekend's Formula E Championship round on the streets of Monaco.

The 22-year-old gained a stunning fourth place at the last round in Mexico City - his Jaguar Racing's first points finish - and is looking forward to racing at one of the most storied circuits in motorsport.

"The Monaco streets are famous for being one of the biggest tests a driver can face and I don't expect the Formula E circuit to be any less of a challenge," said Evans (below, left).

"I've always loved racing there and was on the GP2 podium in Monaco three times."

Last season's Monaco ePrix was highlighted by a dramatic first lap accident and Evans knows there are several teams with a point to prove this time around.

"The Monaco ePrix in the first season was crazy to watch, with a big collision on the first lap in the first turn," he said.

"I think every driver is going to be fired up to do the best they can this year.

"A strong Monaco performance just means that much more to a driver and all 20 of us will be out to show what we can do." Dale Budge
