Kiwi race driver Mitch Evans has had to settle for fifth in the first race of the GP2 series at Monaco this weekend.
Evans was locked in a fierce battle towards the front of the field with Oliver Rowland and Alex Lynn before he jumped the chicane and was handeda five second time penalty. The fight would continue to the end of the race but the Kiwi had to accept a solid haul of points rather than fight for victory.
Artem Markelov won the race with Evans finishing in a frustrating fifth.
The feature race is tonight.
Salvaged 5th today. Struggled early on but managed to get some points on the board. Go again tomorrow.. #MonacoGP#GP2
