Kiwi Formula E racer Mitch Evans has set a category record for the most race wins at 15.
He made history at the last round at Miami, where he was also the first winner at the new-for-2026 event at the International Autodrome circuit.
Evans sits sixth on the championship tableafter three rounds of the 2026 series on 26 points behind Swiss Nico Muller (33), Brit Oliver Rowland (34), another Brit, Jake Dennis (37), German Pascal Wehrlein (38) and series leader and compatriot Nick Cassidy (40).
“I think any record in the championship is special,” Evans told the Herald. “Obviously, I’ve still got a lot more that I want to achieve in this year’s championship, but I think it [record number of wins] shows how strong I’ve been over the years since I’ve been part of the series.
“All the drivers are so good and almost anyone can win just about any race, so setting the record shows just how competitive we’ve been over the years.”
It’s been a bit of a rough start to the season for Evans, having struggled with the car in the first two rounds, but he reckons he and the team are moving in the right direction – and they are confident the Miami win from ninth on the grid is a good sign of things to come.

“I’ve not had the pace that I was expecting, and I still need to find a bit of pace in the dry [his Miami win was in the wet]. I just haven’t felt comfortable since last year.
“We’re trying to find answers for that and it’s something I’m trying to work on because the majority of the races will be dry.
“I’ve just been lacking a couple of tenths [of a second] every weekend, which is a bit unusual for me. Normally my race pace is one of my strengths and I’ve just not felt totally comfortable in the car and we’re trying to find answers for that at the moment.
“We’ve got some ideas and I think Jeddah [the next round] will be a good test for that. If we can make some small improvements for running in the dry there’s no reason why we can’t be in the fight to the end.”
The 31-year-old has remained loyal to the Jaguar team since joining the all-electric championship in season three. Evans has only finished outside the top 10 twice in the 10 seasons he’s been racing with Jaguar, and while the 15 race wins is a fantastic record to set, he said he would still love to win his first championship, having finished second in 2022, third in 2023 and second again in 2024.
“Setting the record for the number of wins is great and something I’m immensely proud of. I’m obviously missing the big one, which is the championship.
“The fact that I’ve been at the front for so many years is something I’m very proud of. Last year was a tough year for me and it shows how easily you can go the wrong way.
“To be at the front and on top of your game for a whole year is incredibly tough as the championship’s so tight and the races are so chaotic. It’s very hard to execute week in, week out.
“I want to try and rectify what happened last year. It just was an awful year and I want to get back into the top three or ideally win the championship.”
“It’s been a long, long ride with the same team, which is unusual in my sport. Normally drivers change teams, so I think it shows a huge amount of trust and respect between us.
“It’s no secret I’m out of contract this year, so let’s see what happens in the future. It’s been a good ride and let’s see if we continue that, or if I take on a new challenge. I’m excited to see where my future will take me.”
The next round of the Formula E championship is the double-header at Jeddah on February 13-14.
