Motorsport: Troy Ware to captain Team Australia

Troy Ware will pilot the Spike/Esslinger car to lead Team Australia in the United Truck Parts International Midget Series.

Troy will step up to Captain the team to take on Team USA and the local lads on Boxing night.

The car arrived in Auckland recently having been shipped from Sydney, and will run the 17Q number and will be painted black supporting the Repco brand, while still being part of the Geoff Harper stable of cars.

"I love coming here to race", said Ware,

"It will be good to have the other drivers in the Harper camp help me with setup and the like so we can be sure the car is ready."

Meanwhile Aiden Corish is back to compete in the United Truck Parts International Midget Series.

Corish ran for the first time last year at Vodafone Speedway so this year he will be straight into the racing.

"I had heard about the level of competition at the venue from the drivers here in Australia", said Aiden, "and they weren't kidding either. The racing at The Springs would be as tough as anywhere in the world", he said.

The #87 AUST - Team Corish car is the latest Spike out of the US powered by an Esslinger.

Aiden will be running for Team Australia in the Team Racing on Boxing Day which comprises of two races. The races score points for both his country, and his starting grid in the Main Race.

Meanwhile Alex Bright will arrive this week to prepare himself for the United Truck Parts International Midget Series.

Alex will drive the #3 AUST Aggressor/Esslinger owned by Aaron Drever Motorsport. This is the car that was driven by Rico Abreu a couple of years back.

"I expect some people will be surprised that I am running for Australia", said Alex, "I did finish 3rd in the Aussie title, so I guess that's why, and I am happy to help these guys out", he said.

Keep an eye out for the 23 year old out of Collegeville Pennsylvania running the 'Mad Butcher' and Wendys #3 AUST.
