After waiting eight years for his maiden Supercars win, Holden's Tim Slade has made it two victories in as many days at Winton Motor Raceway.
The Brad Jones Racing driver claimed the win after a thrilling 200km race on Sunday, finishing more than six seconds clear of defending series champion
Mark Winterbottom.
Slade used strategy and some luck to get to the front of the race after qualifying fourth, but wasn't headed once he came out in front after the final round of pit stops.
Winterbottom's second-place finish was enough to lift him to the top of the points standings for the first time this season - the ninth driver to lead the title race this year.
It means Slade is now the only driver to claim multiple race victories in 2016 apart from Volvo's Scott McLaughlin - who won both races at Phillip Island in April.
Pole-sitter Chaz Mostert was jumped on the race line by fellow Ford driver Fabian Coulthard and little else went right for the Prodrive Racing Australia ace after that point.
A puncture suffered following a collision with Holden's James Courtney put Mostert well off the pace, with the former Bathurst 1000 champion eventually finishing 20th.
Coulthard wasn't able to match the race pace of Slade and Winterbottom but held on to claim third place and a spot on the podium.
Championship contender Shane Van Gisbergen never threatened for the lead but did enough to finish a creditable fourth.
Ford youngster Cameron Waters also made a good effort to overcome a rough start and came home fifth.
Holden veteran Craig Lowndes finished eighth despite an error-riddled day, while six-time champion Jamie Whincup was just behind him in ninth.
McLaughlin, the championship leader heading into the race, finished 11th.
