The double-header finale of the 2017-18 Formula E championship in Montreal has been cancelled.
The Canadian city has recently elected a new mayor. After initially wanting the race in the city centre to be moved mayor Valerie Plante announced the government wished to cancel the race with immediate effect.
"Weare very surprised and disappointed by the unilateral decision and announcement of the Mayor of Montreal," said a Formula E spokesperson. "This is a clear case of a new mayor undoing what the previous mayor did."
"Whilst there is a contract in place, we will not make further comments at this point as this is now in the hands of our Canadian legal counsel," the Formula E spokesperson said.
It is the second round of this season's championship to be changed after Ssao Paulo was removed from the calendar and replaced with Punta del Este.
