Volvo might be leaving Supercars but Garry Rogers Motorsport is hoping to bring a new manufacturer to the sport in 2018.
The veteran team owner has been with Volvo for the past three seasons but the Swedish company has opted to exit the sport at the end of this year.
Rogers and Volvo are currently in dispute over 2017 plans and it is not known what cars GRM will run next year but Rogers is already in discussion with other manufacturers beyond that.
"We're talking to a manufacturer for 2018," Barry Rogers told Speedcafe.com.
"It's in its very early stages, it's probably only five percent through the process, but it's light at the end of the tunnel.
"It's too late for 2017, but we're confident that we can get something together for 2018.
"Whether that is with the people we're currently talking to or somebody else, we believe absolutely that we'll have something together for 2018."
While refusing the divulge the manufacturer Rogers says it will be a four-door sedan with an engine that will take advantage of the new Gen2 regulations that come into effect next year.
