Injured Supercars driver Will Davison is planning on lining up at Phillip Island despite suffering a vertebra break in last weekend's round at Symmons Plains.
That's if his Commodore can be repaired in time for the April 21-23 round of the championship.
On doctor's orders, Davison only flew back from
Tasmania on Monday.
He was the unlucky meat in the sandwich of a bruising 12-car crash in wet conditions on Saturday that handed Supercars teams a multi-million dollar repair bill.
The diagnosis for Davison was a break to an offshoot of a vertebrae, which can only heal naturally and cannot be operated on.
"The impact I suffered in the crash was the biggest of my career. It was measured on the telemetry at 42G," Davison told Fox Sports.
"It was a pretty horrible instant pain through my whole body.
"The pain was excruciating and it was well in to the early hours of Sunday morning at Launceston General Hospital before I was comfortable enough to sleep."
Davison. the reigning Bathurst 1000 champion, also suffered concussion and bruising.
"My body took a big hit and everything feels tender but, again, this will subside over the next few days," he said.
"I'm still very sore, trying all I can do hopefully to be ready for next week.
"I won't realistically know until early next week whether I'm fit enough to drive."
Davison said the sport's travelling doctor Carl Le "is confident I'll be good to go for Phillip Island and I am already keen to get back in the car".
But the other part of the equation is his Tekno Autosports Holden, which suffered a belting in the crash with Nissan's Rick Kelly.
"Hopefully it's fixable and we don't need to search out a replacement car," Davison said.
"Either way, sadly, the boys are not going to have much of an Easter.
"It's going to be a scramble to get on the grid at Phillip Island."
