Motorsport: Avesco to discuss Manfield's V8 Supercar bid

V8 Supercar company Avesco meets today to mull Manfeild's bid for the New Zealand round of the lucrative Australian car race.

Destination Manawatu chief executive Kathy Gibson said the Manawatu-Manfeild bid was sure to be discussed at Avesco's monthly board meeting today, and the results were expected later this month.

Auckland also wants to host the race but the city has yet to convince Transit New Zealand and other local authorities of the benefits of a street car race.
