Michael Clarke 'hid in the boot of his mate's car' following row over $200k ring

He's briefly touched on his very public 2010 break up with ex-fiancée Lara Worthington (nee Bingle).

And in his latest tell-all interview with 60 Minutes, Michael Clarke addresses rumours the model flushed her $200,000 engagement ring down the toilet for the first time.

The 35-year-old former cricket player shut down the reports, saying it was 'complete made-up 100 percent bulls**t!'

'I'd like to say I'm a very silly man. But I'm not that silly,' he admitted in the video, adding: 'I'm not throwing any diamond ring down a toilet.'

But following the attention from the media, Michael found himself hiding from the media.

'There were cameras 24/7 so I ended up hiding in the boot of a mate's car,' he said.

His comment was in reference to the media pack who huddled at the front of his Bondi home following their split.

Also in the interview, Michael refused to apologise for his 'younger self', including the famous incident involving Lara.

When asked by reporter Allison Langdon if he felt the 'need to defend or apologise,' he answered: 'I have apologised enough.

'I haven't done anything wrong. I just did it my way,' the father-of-one continued.

Michael and Lara famously made headlines in 2010 after he left a cricket tour in New Zealand to return to Sydney for 'personal reasons'.

Two days later, he announced his two-year engagement with the model was over.

After holding a late night press conference to confirm their split, media outlets reported Lara flushed her expensive engagement ring down the toilet.

At the time, the Herald Sun quoted an employee from Twin Pipes plumbers who said they had a call out at 2.30am (AEDT) to the apartment block where the couple lived reporting 'someone had placed something, worth a lot of money, down the toilet.'

At the time, it was reported Michael struggled to move on after a naked photo of Lara - taken by her former lover Brendan Fevola - was leaked to the media.
