Martial arts: Lesnar retains UFC crown

Former professional wrestler Brock Lesnar defeated Frank Mir to retain the Ultimate Fighting Championship heavyweight title at Mandalay Bay this afternoon at UFC 100.

The match was stopped 1.48secs into the second round after Lesnar trapped Mir and unleashed a flurry of punches.

Following the bout Lesnar, who had been booed throughout, offered a two-handed obscene gesture to the audience.

Earlier in the night Georges St. Pierre defeated Thiago Alves and in a battle of the coaches from reality TV series The Ultimate Fighter, Dan Henderson completely outperformed his opponent Michael Bisping.
