"Auckland's growing by the month and this area is an an exciting part of it. Raewyn and I have been looking for an apartment to be part of that excitement," Henry told the Herald on Sunday.
"We've got family and grandchildren in Auckland too, so we're keen to remain around them and be around the water too - I like to go fishing.
"The other real positive is we've got a place on Waiheke and the ferry building is only five minutes walk away, so we can go over to Waiheke any time."
Prices on the two and three bedroom units at the 132 Halsey block range from just under $2.1m to $3.5m - with 132 Halsey the higher-priced of two apartment developments.
Neighbouring apartments at Wynyard Central will go from $565,000 to just under $1.3m.
Construction on both residential developments is expected to start in November, with the first homes completed from mid-2017.
There are also plans for a five-star hotel to be added to the Wynyard Quarter and a business district.
