Kiwi triathlete's fiance and coach Laurent Vidal to be farewelled

The French fiancé and coach of kiwi triathlete Andrea Hewitt is to be farewelled at a service in his hometown this weekend.

According to the International Triathlon Union the family has arranged to have a service for Olympian Laurent Vidal, 31, this Saturday.

The service will be held at the Paraoisse Sainte-Tehrese at 6 Rue du Clair Martin in Sète.

The French triathlete died in Gigean, France of a suspected heart attack in his sleep on Tuesday night.

He'd given up a competitive career after an earlier heart attack in 2014.

The international sporting community has been in mourning at the loss of a man who left an impression on the two countries he called home: New Zealand and France.

He was due to marry, fiancée Andrea Hewitt in the new year.
