Karate: Schoolgirl takes karate bronze

Hutt Valley secondary school student Amy Thomason yesterday won a bronze medal in the cadet female kumite (sparring) division at the US Open karate championships in Las Vegas.

Thomason, 16, is the Oceania champion.
