Jonah Lomu's family to thank school for tribute

Members of Jonah Lomu's family will visit the All Black legend's old primary school in South Auckland this week to say thank you for the school's touching musical tribute.

Lomu family spokesman and former All Black coach John Hart will join members of Lomu's immediate family at Favona Primary School in Mangere on Thursday morning at 9.30.

Children from Favona Primary performed their original tribute song at the Eden Park memorial for Lomu last Monday.

A music video accompanying the song has since been uploaded to YouTube, where it has been viewed more than 16,000 times.

The song, titled "Jonah - You Are My Legend", and the lyric sheet are currently available as a free download.

However, people are encouraged to make a donation to one of Lomu's charities.

Hart said the school's performance was one of the highlights of the Eden Park event.

" ... in particular it meant a great deal to Jonah's Mum and family to see the children representing his school putting on such a stirring rendition of the song that was collectively brought together in his honour," he said.

Lomu died suddenly on November 18 in Auckland.
