It was an Australian one-two in the men's event of the Auckland half-Ironman this morning.
Tim Reed took out the race, finishing 30 seconds clear of fellow Australian Leon Griffin. Veteran Kiwi triathlete Cameron Brown finished third, a further 50 seconds back.
The win also gives Reed the Asia-Pacific Ironman 70.3 title.
"I'm stoked," said Reed after the race. "[It was] such a great way to start the year - it's going to be hard to beat this."
Port of Tauranga Ironman 70.3 winner Craig Alexander finished fourth, while Kiwi Terenzo Bozzone finished more than 15 minutes behind Reed in 12th spot.
American Meredith Kessler easily won the women's race with a time of 4:20:12.
New Zealand's Gina Crawford came in second place three minutes back, while fellow Kiwi Amelia Watkinson took out third.
