Ice hockey: Mass brawl six seconds into game (+ video)

Two Russian ice hockey teams took part in an all-in brawl just six seconds into a match during the weekend.

Kontinental Hockey League (KHL) sides Avangard Omsk and Vityaz took little time to drop their sticks and start throwing punches in a planned brawl that could see Vityaz banned from the competition.

Avangard, who went on to win the match 3-2, have called out Vityaz for the premeditated fight seeking a lengthy ban for their bitter rivals.

The match was the first clash between the two sides since January when they took part

in a massive brawl

that saw their game cancelled after less than four minutes of play.

At the time Vityaz were considered to have landed the first punch and warned of expulsion from the league if it happened again.

After the first brawl both teams were fined one million rubles ($NZ43,000), with Vityaz hit with an additional three million rubles fine for "harming the reputation of the KHL, its partners and Russian hockey in general," fanhouse.com reports.
