History will be made for New Zealand in Major League Baseball this afternoon.
Paraparaumu born Andy Skeels is stepping in as the San Francisco Giants assistant hitting coach for their game against the Dodgers in Los Angeles.
Skeels, who coaches at Triple-A level is standing in for the game, with
the usual coach Steve Decker on bereavement leave.
It's believed it makes him the first kiwi-born player or coach to strip for a MLB game.
Skeels was the coach of the New Zealand team in 2012 as they unsuccessfully chased a spot at the World Baseball Classic.
