Quiet Fox, Tiger roars

It was a quiet day at The 147th Open Championship for Ryan Fox who recorded at even-par round to end the third day in a tie for 61st, but the rest of the course was roaring at Carnoustie.

Fox who scraped into the cutline late in the third day was unable to get things going and much like yesterday, started with 13 straight pars before breaking through with a birdie on 14.

He then gave that shot back on the 17th hole which has been his biggest hurdle this week with three bogeys in three days.

Although Fox was pleased to make the weekend, todays round was tough to take for the ninth ranked player in the Race to Dubai standings.

"When I finished yesterday I probably didnt think I had a chance, but today was pretty frustrating to be honest, I played a lot better than even-par and I just couldnt get the ball in the hole," said Fox.

"This golf course has kind of had my number over the years and it's proving that again this week."

Although he is on the other side of the world, there has been plenty of support for the Aucklander and hopefully, they will be able to turn his week around on the final day.

"The support has been amazing this week with Fox masks around and theres been lots of Kiwis with lots of All Blacks jerseys around too and Im grateful for the support, so hopefully I can show them something better tomorrow."

There was plenty of support for one of golfs greatest players with thousands following Tiger Woods through his third round and they were rewarded for it as he carded his lowest round in a major championship in seven years.

Woods flew into the lead to be six-under for his round before the tough Carnoustie finish brought him back a shot to be five-under for the day and the championship. This leaves him four shots back of leaders Jordan Spieth, Xander Schauffele and Kevin Kisner.
