Lydia leads on LPGA

Lydia Ko has surged into the lead at the latest LPGA Tour event in Indianapolis, after an impressive second round of eight-under par.

Starting the day in a tie for fourth, she backed up her first round of seven-under 65, by hitting 17 of 18 greens and firing five consecutive birdies on her way to the top of the Indy Women in Tech Championship.

To see Ko playing like this once again, has New Zealand excited ahead of next week's fifth and final major of the year, the Evian Championship in France, followed by the McKayson New Zealand Womens Open at the end of a big month.

However, Ko isnt getting ahead of herself as she looks to capture her first LPGA title this year.

"There's a lot of golf to be played. With how the course has played the last couple of days somebody could shoot a really low number but at the same time if it's windy tomorrow it can really play tough too," Ko said. "I just have to stick to my own game but If I was the one holding the trophy it would mean a lot."

An afternoon tee time means she will enjoy a sleep-in on moving day as she heads into the weekend with plenty of optimism.

"I've just enjoyed being in this position and being able to hit some good shots and give myself good looks at birdie," said Ko. "When you start doing that, it just builds your confidence."

To the European Tour where Ryan Fox has backed up his impressive start, with a solid three-under par 67, in his second round to be tied sixth at the European Masters in Switzerland.

In typical Fox fashion, he produced seven birdies, two bogeys and one double bogey.

Australian Scott Hend continued his form by shooting a clinical seven-under 63, to break away from Fox who is now five shots in the rear.

Its been an exciting few months for the Auckland professional with successive appearances in major championships (The Open and PGA Championship). Prior to that, Fox was in sublime form on the European Tour, recording three successive top- six finishes.

All of these results see him sitting 21st in the Race to Dubai standings and with a great start in the opening 36 holes in Switzerland, he will aiming to rise even further this weekend.
