Tournament host Lydia Ko will not lie down as she stares down the barrel of a seven-shot deficit heading into the final day of the McKayson New Zealand Womens Open.
The Kiwi star managed a two-under par 70 to be in a share of 11th place at eight-under with exciting
birdies on both the opening and closing holes.
"It was a pretty tough round, but starting with a bang and finishing with a bang, Ill take that," said Ko.
"It looks like it will be difficult conditions tomorrow, so who knows."
Kos predictions seem spot on with forecasted wet weather prompting organisers to move the tee times earlier for the final day.
MetService is forecasting heavy rain and strong winds on the final day at Windross Farm. Therefore organisers have decided on a two-tee start for the 78 players to contest the final round, starting from 7.40am, with the final group to tee off around 10:00am.
The forecast is for a period of heavy rain followed by clearer but windy conditions. This also means Sky Television will broadcast the final round live from 11:00am on tomorrow.
Spaniard Belen Mozo still remains in charge, however her 36-hole lead of five strokes has been cut down to just one with Canadas Brooke Henderson hot on her heels.
Henderson, who was outstanding around the greens, fired a five-under 67 and is confident of her chances tomorrow.
"I am extremely happy with my five-under especially with no bogies on the card because it was really tough conditions, with the wind really picking up especially on our back nine," Henderson said.
"I am excited to be in the spot I am in right now and hopefully I can go out tomorrow and make a lot more birdies and see what happens.
Kiwi Cathryn Bristow continued her good form to rise into a tie for 48th with a four-under par round. This included four birdies in five holes during the front nine proving why she is New Zealands second ranked golfer.
It was a tough day for Kaiapois Amelia Garvey who couldnt continue her earlier form with an eight-over par round to bail out of contention.
Playing alongside Danielle Kang who combined with Kiwi caddie Steve Williams was a great experience, but not as good as four rounds of LPGA Tour golf will be for the 17-year-old.
