Wellingtons Daniel Hillier has featured once again during another successful weekend for our New Zealand Amateurs, this time by going undefeated at the Bonallack Trophy at the Doha Golf Club, Qatar.
Hillier who recently claimed the Bledisloe Cup for leading amateur at the ISPS Handa New Zealand Open where he
finished T23 at an impressive 16-under, played a crucial role for the Asia-Pacific team who defeated Europe 16 to 15 in the Bonallack Trophy for the first time since 2004.
The Bonallack Trophy replicates the Ryder Cup consisting of two teams representing Europe and Asia-Pacific. Over three exciting days, they start with rounds of foursomes and four-ball matches before the final day where all twelve players from each team compete in singles match play.
Hilliers unbeaten record of three wins and two halves was an impressive contribution in such a tight fixture as he continues to shape his outstanding amateur career.
It wasnt so tight in the womens Patsy Hankins Trophy (named after the late New Zealander who was one of the most respected golf administrators this country has produced) which saw Asia-Pacific record the men and women double with a convincing win of 23 to 8 . This dominant side included many players who featured at the recent Womens Amateur Asia-Pacific, proving how strong golf in this large region is.

The Riversdale Cup was also competed for across the Tasman this weekend with Caryn Khoo leading the Kiwi charge in the womens field to finish a great week in second place behind Golf Australias Becky Kay.
Also joining Khoo inside the top ten were fellow Aucklanders Carmin Lim and Rose Zheng who finished sixth and seventh respectively.
It was Khoos third round of 70 that propelled her up the leaderboard which was also a nine stroke improvement on her second round.
Kerry Mountcastle finished lead Kiwi in the mens division, finishing just inside the cutline and staying there, while Mark Hutson missed the cut after his good week in Queenstown at the ISPS Handa New Zealand Open where he finished T59 at nine-under par.
FULL WOMENS LEADERBOARD
As the end of a busy period for New Zealand amateur golfers draws to a close, all roads now lead to the New Zealand Stroke Play Championship to be hosted at Paraparaumu from March 22-25.
Mark Hutson will aim to defend his title, while the red hot Daniel Hillier will be aiming to add yet another trophy to his cabinet. Amelia Garvey, who is now playing College golf in America wont be back to defend her crown which opens the door for a new womens winner in 2018.
