The upcoming Toro New Zealand Speed Golf Open is set to be one of the largest fields assembled anywhere in the world for a tournament of its type at Windross Farm Golf on the 24-25 of February.
With the size of the field also comes class after event organisers secured
world number two Speedgolfer, Wesley Cupp (USA) and his wife, 2017 US Speed Golf Open Champion, Lauren Cupp who will no doubt be the favourites next weekend.
The field quality is phenomenal, with four NZPGA professionals and a number of former national running champions with more than half of the field on an impressive four handicap or less.
The womens division will be highly competitive with three-time defending champion Liz McKinnon away on international duty at the inaugural Womens Amateur Asia-Pacific in Singapore.
Former President of the NZPGA and marathon runner, Susan Farron, joins the competition for the first time and is joined by Taupo professional Renee Fowler and amateur Emily Stenhouse.
2017 mens champion, Steve Holloway returns to defend his title after last years efforts when he returned 73 in 45 minutes in the opening round. Brad Heaven, former professional golfer who has returned to the amateur game will make his debut at this national Speed Golf event playing off a +2 handicap.
This is TOROs second year involved with the event as they share the same passion to grow the event to become one of the biggest on the planet.
"Windross Farm will be a fast course, not too long and a flat running surface, which should yield some impressive Speed Golf scores," said Chris Todd, Managing Director of Parkland Products, distributors of Toro equipment in New Zealand.

Running times range from the elite to those that are recreational runners which makes it widely accessible and the event is open for all, regardless of golf or running skill. Registration is still open for anyone interested in trying a new format of our great game.
