Rugby kicking tees at Eden Park are set to be replaced by golf tees for eight days in early November.
The ASB G9 competition will see Eden Park convert its hallowed turf into a nine-hole golf course, and players tee off from elevated platforms in the stands.
The concept was thought up by the team at Eden Park with the goal of providing a novelty course that Kiwi golfers and fans could enjoy.
Originally scheduled as a five-day event, it was extended three days due to fan demand.
A round on the stadium course can be booked by teams of two or four, costing $98 per person.
Eden Park incoming chief executive officer Nick Sautner believed the price was fair given the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity players were being given.
"The novelty of teeing off in one of the world's most famous rugby venues will be a truly unique experience," he said.
New Zealand Golf CEO Dean Murphy was pleased to be part of the event.
"We are always looking for new ways to grow the game of golf in New Zealand and this concept created by Eden Park shows golf in a fun and unqiue way."
