Kiwi golfer Tim Wilkinson is in a share of second place after the opening round of the Crowne Plaza Invitational on the PGA Tour.
Wilkinson's four-under 66 at the Colonial Country Club in Fort Worth today has left him one stroke back from leader Dustin Johnson (-5).
The left-handed Wilkinson made four birdies during his bogey-free round and holds second place with Americans Hunter Mahan, Harris English and Robert Streb, while there's a slew of players one shot back at three-under.
New Zealand's Danny Lee carded a one-over 71 to be in a share of 64th and will need a solid second round to move inside the cut line.
Meanwhile, on the second-tier Web.com Tour, Hamilton's Steven Alker shot a disappointing two-over 73 at the Rex Hospital Open in North Carolina to be in a share of 117th after the first round.
