Tiger Woods' comeback date to golf is still not known.
A PGA Tour teleconference this morning was tipped to announce Woods' return date to the Tour but it was, instead, about continuation of a sponsorship.
PGA Tour commissioner Tim Finchem said he still has not been given an indication whenTiger will return to the golf course.
"I don't have the specific date when he's going to come back. Tiger has indicated he will give us reasonable notice," Finchem said. "We're going to have advance notice and we're going to be comfortable with the notice we have."
Woods figures to make the announcement himself about when his next golf event will be, but Finchem said that once Woods gives the PGA notice he has picked a date, the PGA will reveal that time and place.
"As soon as he tells us, you will know," Finchem said. "Once we know we will tell you, if it hasn't already been communicated."
Only a few days are left before Woods needs to commit to playing in the annual Arnold Palmer Invitational at Bay Hill in Orlando. Woods has won the event six times and the tournament was being touted as a possible comeback for him before playing in the Masters next month.
Finchem announced today that Farmers Insurance, which became sponsor of the January PGA event at Torrey Pines in San Diego on eight days' notice, signed a deal to stay as the event's sponsor through 2014.
