Leading junior golfers will get a first-hand look at Tiger Woods at the New Zealand Open at Paraparaumu next month.
Thirty-three juniors, representing every region in New Zealand, will be Woods' special guests at a clinic given by the world No 1.
Open spokesman Ian Hepenstall said the youngsters' chanceto see Woods had come from his New Zealand caddie Steve Williams, who is funding the juniors through his Steve Williams Foundation, established at last year's NZ Open.
The juniors will attend the closed-door clinic given by Woods off-course for invited guests on January 10, following his first round at the Open. After the clinic, they will get special tuition from two American professionals who are friends of Williams.
The juniors will also get a close view of Australasia's best golfers, acting as carryboard officials during the tournament.
"We set up the foundation to help promote junior golfers in New Zealand ... and this is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity," Williams said.
"I want our best young players to have the chance to witness Tiger and the best professionals in Australia and New Zealand in action, and hope it helps them to develop and nurture their own interest in the game."
