Day three at the Womens Toro Interprovincial will be remembered for its delays rather than golf as the Auckland and Canterbury clash was put on hold opening the door for Taranaki to steal the show at Westown Golf Club this morning.

Heavy drizzle was consistent causing seven hour delays and it didnt ease up until 2:30pm, where we were then able to witness some exciting golf.

Providing the entertainment was local side Taranaki who recorded their second win of the tournament, this time over Tasman. It was a dominant one with Joanne MacDonald starting the trend carding a 5&4 victory, Melanie Wilson 3&2, Rochelle Keegan 3&1 and Tineka Kumeroa finished the job with an impressive 7&5 victory.

Kumeroa gave the locals something to celebrate after her dominant win and was pleased to see her side enjoying the week and already improving on last years performance.

"We are all pretty happy with how we have gone so far and it was good to be able to win and get inside and dry off," smiled Kumeroa.

"We have already done better than last year and the girls are having fun, so hopefully we can finish on a high on the final day tomorrow."

With the rain taking over the mornings play, each round has been pushed back which has cancelled the half day to ensure all games are played leading into the semi-finals.

This means the blockbuster clash between former champions Auckland and defending champions Canterbury is now first thing tomorrow, starting the final day of pool play with a bang.

These two sides have been leaps and bounds ahead of the rest with Canterbury defeating Aorangi 5-0 and Auckland defeating Waikato 4-1 which makes for a great test leading into Saturdays finals.

Bay of Plenty would argue that point after securing their second 5-0 whitewash this afternoon against Tasman. They have been building nicely throughout the week and have all but locked in a semi-final berth which will be against either Canterbury or Auckland.

This leaves one vacant top four position which will be fought closely between North Harbour and Wellington. These two sides currently sit on the same points, but Wellington has the better points differential leading into the intense final day of qualifying.

Interestingly they both play Northland tomorrow and should record wins there, but North Harbour will come up against the in-form Bay of Plenty to decide their fate in a mouth-watering match up to end the day.
