Golf: Profitable ventures

Lynnette Brooky and Gina Scott, New Zealand's representatives on the European women's professional tour, finished the season with 10th and 15th positions in the Catalonia Ladies Masters in Spain.

The 54-hole event was won by Frenchwoman Karine Icher with a 17-under total of 190.

Englishwoman Laura Davies topped the season's order of merit with 254,774 euros ($464,184). Brooky won 81,076 euros and Scott 70,191 euros.

Auckland professional Richard Lee made a profitable excursion to Japan for the Acom International.

He finished ninth equal with rounds of 66,69 and 72 to be six under for the rain-shortened event, winning 2,358,000 ($31,700). The winner, Toru Suzuki was 13 under. Kiwi David Smail finished 34th.
