Golf: NZ team finish well down

New Zealand finished 17th in The Spirit International golf tournament in the United States yesterday.

The combined men's and women's team, the first under the amalgamated organisation, had a 11-under-par 565 total at Whispering Pines GC in Texas. England won the tournament with a total of 533 -- 32 shots ahead of New Zealand

The men's team of Doug Holloway (Hawke's Bay) and Richard Wright (Waikato) finished 21st and the women's pair, Sarah Nicholson (Wellington) and Sharon Ahn (North Harbour), were 12th.
