The 17-year-old is in a share of third at eight-under after three rounds but is five shots back from leader Lizette Salas,who is at 13-under.
Ko had to finish her second round today too as play was suspended yesterday and carded a bogey-free four-under 67 during her third round.
She is in a tie for third alongside Australian Katherine Kirk and American Stacy Lewis, while Korea's Hee Young Park is in second at 10-under.
Ko, the world No 3, hasn't registered a bogey in her past two rounds at the Kingsmill Resort, River Course in Virginia.
America's Salas produced an impressive six-under 65 during her third round to help her push up the leaderboard.
Meanwhile, Manawatu's Tim Wilkinson has fallen down the leaderboard at the PGA Tour's HP Byron Nelson Championship in Texas.
The left-hander fired a one-over 71 during his third round today and is in a tie for 38th at two-under for the week, eight shots back from leaders Louis Oosthuizen and Brendon Todd who are at 10-under.
On the second-tier Web.com Tour, Hamilton's Steven Alker is in a share of 34th at the BMW Charity Pro-Am in Greer, South Carolina at eight-under after he shot a four-under 68 during his third round today.
Alker is six strokes back from a trio of Americans who lead the tournament at 14-under. On the OneAsia Tour, Mark Brown was the best of the Kiwis at one-under in a share of 22nd after three rounds of the SK Telecom Open in Korea.
Auckland's Ryan Fox was at even-par in a tie for 29th, while Michael Long had slipped to a tie for 47th at three-over for the week.
