World No 1 amateur Lydia Ko has finished in second place after two rounds of qualifying for the Australian Amateur with a two-under par 71 at Woodlands yesterday.
Ko, who opened with a three-over 76, bounced back well to be the highest-seeded New Zealander heading into the match play drawtoday.
Five of the eight New Zealand women at the event finished inside the top 32 to qualify for the main event the match play of the Australian Amateur.
World No 3 Cecilia Cho, who plans to turn professional in March, finished in a share of third place after rounds of 76 and 73.
The big hitting Waikato No 1 Emily Perry and Wellington No 1 Julianne Alvarez ended up in a share of 20th place.
Perry managed rounds of 81 and 77 and Alvarez 79 and 79 for a 12 over par total.
New Zealand rep Chantelle Cassidy, who opened with a three-over par 76, fell back with an 11-over par 84 in round two at Huntingdale to finish in a share of 25th place.
Auckland rep Larissa Eruera missed the qualifying mark by two shots after a seven-over par 80 in the second round had her finish tied 36th.
Waikato's Sarah Bradley (84, 84) and Hanna Seifert (89, 88) also missed qualifying for the match play tournament.
