Two New Zealand golfers are closing in on PGA Tour cards for next season after impressive starts to the season-ending Web.com Tour Championship.
Steven Alker and Tim Wilkinson are in excellent positions after two rounds of the final event, with Alker in a tie for 10th at five-under, and Wilkinsonmaking a big move to jump 41 spots into a share of 28th.
The excellent start sees both sit in the top 25 on the Web.com playoffs money list - with the top 25 golfers being given PGA Tour cards for the 2015/2016 season.
Alker and Wilkinson were both on the PGA Tour this season but failed to initially retain their cards, both ending well outside the top 125 needed to keep their status. However, good showings in the Web.com playoffs have them both with a shot at finding themselves back on the big-money tour, with Alker in 17th and Wilkinson in 19th on the money list.
This morning, Alker shot a two-under 68, while Wilkinson had a four-under 66 which included this hole out for birdie on the 10th.
Argentinian Emiliano Grillo leads at 10-under, while Alker and Wilkinson will be looking to consolidate their positions to stick in the top 25 come Monday morning.
Elsewhere, another Kiwi duo is having less success on the European Tour, with Ryan Fox and Mark Brown both well off the pace at the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship.
Fox is in a tie for 157th at eight-over after rounds of 75 and 77, while Brown shot a three-under 69 overnight to move up 37 spots into a tie for 102th at even par.
