Mt Maunganui professional Josh Geary has won for the first time on the PGA Tour of Australasia and secured his card on the tour for the rest of the summer and next year.
The 28-year-old fired a seven-under 65 in yesterday's final round of the Western Australian Open Championship playedat the Mount Lawley Golf Club to win by five strokes over Victorian Kris Mueck.
Geary, who won by eight shots two weeks ago at the Carrus Open on the Charles Tour, began the final round only one shot back and said he was pretty comfortable as he chased his first title on Australian soil.
With his win in Western Australia Geary also earned a start in this week's Perth International, Australia's richest golf tournament.
Meanwhile, on the OneAsia Tour, Lower Hutt professional Mark Brown yesterday finished in a share of fourth at the China Masters in Shandong.
Gareth Paddison finished in a share of 15th at one-under for the event, while Te Awamutu's Brad Shilton was three strokes back in a tie for 23rd at two-over. In the United States, Danny Lee has finished in a share of 33rd at the Frys.com Open in California on the PGA Tour.
