The promising golf career of 20-year-old Waikato player Sarah Bradley is on hold after she was seriously injured in a car accident last weekend.
Bradley, on holiday from her golf scholarship at Oklahoma State University, was a sleeping passenger in a car driven by her father Robert whenit left the road near their home town of Cambridge. They'd been playing golf together at Mt Maunganui.
She was taken to Waikato Hospital where she has been moved from the intensive care unit to the neurological ward.
Bradley, the Waikato Golfer of the Year in 2005 and a New Zealand junior representative is in her second year at Oklahoma State. She's enjoyed a successful college career so far with two top-five finishes from nine tournaments in her freshman year, and was in the OSU team that made the NCAA finals last year.
It's expected Bradley will make a full recovery but her return to Oklahoma, which was to have been this past week, has been delayed indefinitely. Her father has been released from hospital.
