Kiwi golfer Steven Alker has fired a four-under 68 during the second round of the Mexico Championship on the Web.com Tour to comfortably make the cut.
After opening with a three-over 75 yesterday, the Hamilton 42-year-old needed a decent showing in his second dig if he wanted to play the weekend and he made seven birdies and three bogeys today as he eventually closed the day in a share of 27th place at one-under for the tournament.
Alker, who came began the week in a tie for 96th on the second-tier tour's order of merit, is seven strokes back from leader Justin Thomas at the El Bosque Golf Club in Leon.
