Kiwi golfer Steven Alker is in the same spot he was last week after shooting an ever-par 71 in his first round of the Web.com Tour's Cox Classic in Nebraska today.
This time last week Alker also opened with an even-par round of 71 at the News Sentinel Open inin Knoxville and had to rely on a four-under 67 in his second round to make the cut.
Alker will now need to go under the card in his second round this week if he wants to play the weekend. Today's effort left him in a share of 107th, eight shots back from co-leaders Andrew Loupe and Billy Hurley III.
Alker is right on the cusp of earning his PGA Tour card for next season. He is 22nd on the Web.com Tour's order of merit - the top 25 earn their cards automatically - and tour cards will be given out after this weekend's tournament.
He could still win his ticket to the show if he misses the cut this week but would have to rely on other players around him on the money list not performing.
Alker didn't drop a shot today as he made 18 pars and will look to get his putter firing tomorrow.
Fellow Kiwi Danny Lee is in a share of 126th after he carded a one-over 72. Lee has his PGA Tour card secured for next year as he occupies 13th spot on the Web.com Tour's money list.
Manawatu professional Tim Wilkinson, who is in ninth on the Web.com order of merit, isn't playing this weekend.
