New Zealand golf professionals Steven Alker and Tim Wilkinson are off the pace after round one of the Chitimacha Louisiana Open on the Nationwide Tour today.
Wilkinson and Alker are in a share of 98th and 115th place after carding rounds of even par 71 and one over 72, respectively,at the Le Triomphe Country Club in Louisiana.
Alker, who is currently tied for 20th on the Nationwide Tour order of merit, made 17 pars to go with a bogey at the 14th.
Wilkinson, who is tied 18th on the money list, mixed four birdies with four bogeys to be even and eight shots back from the leaders Will MacKenzie of the United States and South African Brenden Pappas.
Both of the Kiwis will need low scores in the second round to make the cut on the weekend.
On the European Tour, Michael Campbell struggled to find his game again at the Trophee Hassan II tournament in Morocco. The former US Open champion carded a nine over 81 to be in 123rd place at the Golf du Palais Royal Golf Club.
Campbell made three birdies, six bogeys, one double and a quadruple bogey eight as he fell down the leaderboard to be 16 shots back from round one leader Ireland's Damian McGrane.
