Geary qualifies for 2018 European Tour to join Fox

Josh Geary has officially qualified for the 2018 European Tour after carding a six-under (65) in the final round of Q-school overnight.

Geary started the final day in a tie for 17th (on the cutline) at the Lumine Golf Club in Tarragona, Spain, needing a top-25 finish to earn his full European Tour card.

After making an eagle on his second hole of the day, it was meant to be as the 33-year-old who continued to card another eagle and four birdies and finish in a tie for ninth at 17-under, confirming his spot on the European Tour alongside countryman Ryan Fox.

Geary started the week in a slow but steady fashion after recording three even-par rounds before finding his mojo to go 17-under in just three rounds (67, 64 and 65) to give his career the biggest boost to date.

FINAL LEADERBOARD HERE

In more good news from the European Tour, Ryan Fox is currently tied third after a clinical opening round of five-under par at the DP World Tour Championship in Dubai.

An 18th hole eagle rocketed him up the leaderboard as he looks to end his breakthrough year on a high. Along with his eagle, Fox also carded four birdies and a bogey as he looks to build from his current position of 34th in the Race to Dubai rankings.

Fox, who will tee off his second round at 9.30pm NZT, as we look to crown the Race to Dubai Champion.

EUROPEAN TOUR LEADERBOARD

Lydia Ko has also risen to the occasion and sits in a tie for second at the final event of the LPGA Tour season, the Race to the CME Globe in Naples.

She too has carded a round of five-under par to be just one shot off the pace as she looks to capture her first title of the year.

An eagle on her 17th hole was the finishing touch on yet another great start as she looks to continue her recent form of seven top 25 finishes on the bounce (four top five finishes).

LPGA LEADERBOARD

New Zealand amateur Ryan Chisnall is leading the way for the Kiwi golfers at the NSW Open after round one, joining the theme of the day recording yet another five-under par round.

He currently sits in T13 with the leaders finishing at eight-under par.

Gareth Paddison is the next best Kiwi at four-under with Daniel Hillier a further shot back at three-under par. The second round is underway as we speak at the Twin Creeks Golf and CC Luddenham.
