EVIAN-LES-BAINS, France (AP) The Evian Championship has been shortened to 54 holes after heavy rain washed out the first day's play.
The tournament, the fifth and last major of the season, resumed on Friday with a full round played under sunshine and organizers had initially hoped to complete 72
holes by playing two rounds on Sunday.
But the LPGA said in a statement Friday that it had decided to reduce the tournament by one round with a 36-hole cut of the top 70 and ties.
LPGA Commissioner Michael Whan and senior vice president of tour operations Heather Daly-Donofrio were expected to comment further on Saturday.
Mika Miyazato of Japan shot a 6-under 65 to take the lead after the first round.
