Canterbury have completed a stunning comeback at the Womens Toro Interprovincial to secure a semi-finals birth at Waitikiri Golf Club alongside Auckland and North Harbour.
Playing in the feature match against an unbeaten Wellington side in the morning, they found themselves down in four of five matches through nine holes,
however they turned things around to win by a narrow 3-2 margin.
With all five matches finishing with 2&1 winning margins it came down to the wire, but the biggest comeback of all was Catherine Bell who was three-down early in the day to fight back and earn her team a vital point.
"It feels amazing, but the girls have all done really well, we kept fighting and Im just stoked for the team at this stage," said Bell.
This year seems to bring back memories of 2015 when they won just down state highway one in Ashburton.
"Yeah, theres a similar feeling with heaps of support here which makes it feel like home and helps us relax. Hopefully with everyone having the day off on Saturday they can help us through by coming to watch."
If all goes to script, a classic Canterbury versus Auckland final is looking likely as the defending champions also had a perfect day to confirm their place in the final four.
After claiming another 5-0 winning margin in the morning over Otago, things looked slightly nerve racking against Northland in the early afternoon before their class came to the fore to show why they have 24 Toro Interprovincial titles.
This remarkably leaves every single player in the Auckland team unbeaten entering the final day of pool play with their worst team result being a 4.5-0.5 victory.
Tomorrow acts as a quarter-final for Wellington and Manawatu/Wanganui who go head to head for the final place in the top four.
A halve could help Wellington advance but Bay of Plenty still have a mathematical chance however, they will be facing the host side who are in hot form and will not only need to win by a least a 4-1 margin, they will also require Wellington and Manawatu/Wanganui to complete the draw if they are to progress.
Tomorrow is just a half day before the semi-finals with the first morning match teeing off at 7:30am
