Golf: Scahill secures European ticket

Wellington golfer Stephen Scahill has ensured himself a regular spot on the European Tour next year.

Scahill finished 27th today after the last round of the final stage in the tour qualifying school in Spain today.

His six-round card of 415 saw him finish 15 shots behind winner Per Nyman, of Sweden, as cards were issued to the top-40 finishers.

Scahill, 33, and a European Tour regular since 1996, lost his card this season when he came just 137th on the money list.

Two other New Zealanders, Gareth Paddison and Elliot Boult, failed to make the fourth-round cut in Spain earlier this week.
