Golf: Drive of 342 metres wins competition

Sean Fister of Little Rock, Arkansas, drove a golf ball 342.21m to win the world long-drive championship yesterday. He took home $US80,000 ($191,676) for his shot at a regular, flat driving range in Mesquite, Nevada.

Lee Brandon, of Los Angeles, was the women's winner with a drive of more than 264m. Ted Fostey, of Calgary, Alberta, had a drive of more than 324m to capture the seniors' title for those 45 and over.
