Golf: Age triumphs on European Seniors Tour

England golf veteran Neil Coles broke his own European Seniors Tour record by winning the Lawrence Batley tournament at the age of 67 years and nine months.

Coles extended his record as the oldest winner, having last been successful when he was 65 years and 10 months.

Yesterday, he carded a one-under 70 before defeating compatriot David Creamer and American Steve Stull on the fourth hole of a sudden-death playoff in Huddersfield.

"This is very exciting for me at my age," Coles said. The victory was his 46th in a professional career that began in 1950 at the age of 16.
