Gemma and Richie McCaw have posted a photo of Charlotte "getting her 12 week vaccinations".

The Instagram post, which was a photo of Richie holding baby Charlotte, focused on how the vaccination will help her child and others.

"Safe in her daddy's arms," the caption read. "Safe getting her 12 week vaccinations. Safe in knowing she will protect herself and others she cares about. Safe in knowing she will help protect the community from preventable disease. Safe in the knowledge that she will help protect future generations."

Gemma's post received a lot of support from fans, with some praising her for being a "positive example to all parents out there".

The 12-week vaccination consists of two injections – Pneumococcal and an injection combining vaccinations for Diphtheria, Tetanus, Pertussis, Polio, Hepatitis B, and Haemophilus influenzae type b – and one oral vaccine for Rotavirus, according to the Ministry of Health.

A major recent study once again debunked the myth of a link between vaccinations and autism in children.

The Danish study found that measles, mumps and rubella (MMR) vaccination does not trigger or increase the risk of autism in children.

Dr James Donnelly, a psychologist at Southern Cross University in Queensland, told Stuff there is a need to "guard against biases informed by erroneous information".

"To ignore these findings would be irresponsible in my opinion and may put children at increased risk as believing dangerous myths instead leads to poor healthcare choices," he said.
