KEY POINTS:
Darren Bazeley: Was recently appointed Waitakere area coach for United Soccer 1 so it wouldn't be a surprise to see him turn out for Waitakere United in the NZFC. The former Knights skipper has recently applied for residency and continues to dabble with radio commentary.
Malik Buari: St
Albans, just north of London, is stockbroker belt but Buari's stocks have dived since playing for Fulham and the Knights. Since returning to the UK, the 23-year-old has played 13 games for St Albans, who have been relegated from the Nationwide Conference.
Che Bunce: The All Whites defender picked up by Championship side Coventry in the January transfer window has yet to play a game for them and has been told by new manager Iain Dowie he's surplus to requirements. There has been some talk he could be picked up by a League Two side but it's unlikely he will be seen at the Phoenix.
Adam Casey: Although the striker made little impact for the Knights, he was thought of highly enough in Australian football to be signed by glamour club Sydney FC. The 21-year-old has already played in two Asian Champions League matches.
Sean Devine: The much-maligned striker holds the goalscoring record for Barnet and Wycombe Wanderers. Presumably he has now set his sights on doing the same for Northern League division one side Metro. Devine is director of coaching and plans to gain his residency.
Grégory Duruz: The Swiss are known for keeping out of conflicts but not Duruz. The 30-year-old and his busy elbows returned to the land of cheese and chocolate to play for FC Chiasso in the second-tier Challenge League. He has since reportedly broken his leg and is said to be mulling over his future in football.
Neil Emblen: Embers plays for Waitakere City in the Northern League premier division but the 35-year-old is likely to join Alen Marcina's Puerto Rico Islanders in June and July. He played two pre-season games for them but was deemed too expensive to sign for the entire season because of the cost of relocating his family. He will return to play in the NZFC after fielding offers from Waitakere United, Auckland City and Waikato. Has his real estate licence but can't practise until he gains New Zealand residency, which he intends to seek in July.
Leilei Gao: The Chinese midfielder was seen as a good candidate for the Phoenix after being instrumental in the Knights' fine run towards the end of last season. Instead, he's swapped his English phrasebook for a Finnish one after signing for top club Mypa.
Scot Gemmill: Is enjoying something of an OE, having toured parts of New Zealand, Australia and Vietnam. He's then likely to visit Canada next month to see his father, Archie, who will coach the Scotland side at the Under-20 World Cup before he, too, is expected to join the coaching ranks.
Dean Gordon: The former Middlesbrough defender has had more clubs than a Saturday golfer and has accumulated another three since departing the Knights. He spent three months with non-league Crook Town before playing one game for League One Blackpool. He resides in the seaside town of Torquay, who have already been relegated from League Two and looks sure to be on the move again soon.
Noah Hickey: He announced his retirement this week from football despite an offer to join the Phoenix.
Richard Johnson: Signed by the Phoenix.
Sime Kovacevic: The young defender is still recovering from a serious knee injury and is said to be training by himself before seeking a club in Europe.
Alen Marcina: The Canadian striker was a late recruit to the Knights and proved a handy acquisition. He's since returned to the Puerto Rico Islanders, for whom he scored a bucketload of goals in the second-tier USL First Division.
Mark Paston: Signed by Phoenix.
Jonti Richter: South African-born Richter has taken his pace and skunk-like haircuts to Manly United in the New South Wales Premier League.
Jonas Salley: The Ivorian was one player who made a significant impression with the Knights and it was little surprise he was picked up by Adelaide United. In a curious twist, Salley replaced Ross Aloisi, who was this week unveiled as one of the Phoenix's first signings.
Michael Turnbull: The 26-year-old goalkeeper is currently pulling on the gloves for NSW Premier League outfit Sydney United.
Frank van Eijs: The Dutchman who walked out on the Knights over his lack of gametime was last known to be eating pho ga and playing football in Vietnam.
Michael White: Came to the strange conclusion that trialling with clubs in the UK was a better option than playing in next month's Under-20 World Cup in Canada. Played a handful of games for Waitakere United at the end of the NZFC season.
Paul Nevin: Was sacked as Knights manager last December but has since set up his own football consultancy and is weighing up options in the UK, Australia and New Zealand.
Barry Simmonds: Was Knights manager for just four weeks after Nevin's sacking but his real strength was scouting players. He's back in the UK, presumably trying to unearth the next Wayne Rooney so he can retire to the Caribbean.
