New Zealand Knights boss John Adshead will be hoping new signing Simon Yeo packs his goal-scoring boots when he heads Down Under.
The 31-year-old striker, who has just ended his third season with English League Two club Lincoln City, is one of three new signings for the Auckland-based franchise.
Yeo,
who has signed a three-year deal with the Knights, scored 21 goals for City in the league season, which ended when they were beaten 2-0 by Southend in extra time in the promotion match.
"Tommy Mason [assistant coach] spotted Yeo on his trip to the UK," Adshead said. "He was the sixth top scorer in his league."
Other signings are former Manchester United youth player of the year, midfielder Ben Collett, 20, and Chinese under-23 international midfielder Xiaobin Zhang, also 20. They bring the playing roster to 18,
Collett has played at United since he was 12 and was a member of the team who won the Youth Cup. He signed pro forms at 16 and has been a regular in the United reserves.
He is one of six players let go by manager Sir Alex Ferguson, with whom Adshead spoke while searching for players.
All of the Knights players are expected in Auckland by June 15.
